UPC Information

So, how do you get UPC numbers for your line of products? Your company will need to obtain a UCC-12 U.P.C. (Universal Product Code) number.

The Uniform Code Council assigns the first portion of the U.P.C. number after your company applies for membership. This number, referred to as the UCC Company Prefix, is followed by the second portion assigned by your company identifying a particular item.

All membership forms and information are available online at www.uc-council.org. We know that more and more your customers require UPC labeling. You want to meet their needs, yet maintain time and cost efficiencies, without costly equipment or labor expenditures.

You can do it. And Summit can help through our innovative system for UPC labeling horticultural containers. Our system ensures our quality trays and inserts — even inside rows and individual pots — are delivered to you precisely labeled, evenly stacked, easily denestable and ready for use.

And the quality lasts; labels and adhesives are engineered for durability, fade resistance and permanence, so they stay readable and scannable to the point of sale.

Just ask — we’d love to tell you more about how you can meet your customers’ need for UPC labeling.

Summit's and JanorPot’s line of containers can be purchased with pre-applied pressure sensitive labels. Our labels are highly durable coated plastic, designed to resist moisture and weathering.

From your supplied information, Summit generates labels to your specifications with UPC bar codes that scan every time. Make your label an even better selling tool by adding grower instructions, plant variety information or even your logo.

Labels can come in a variety of sizes and colors, and the print can be a basic black UPC bar code or multi-color print. Label size depends upon your selection of container; our standard sizes include 1” x 1 1/4”; 1 1/2” x 1 1/2”; 1” x 4”. Custom designs and sizes, to a maximum of eight inches long, can be accommodated.

New, in-house high-speed labeling equipment means greater efficiency and cost savings on both square and round pots. Achieve excellent product identification with reliable adhesive pressure sensitive labeling.

Printed Pots

JanorPot containers, in a variety of colors and designs, are the ultimate for printing creativity to fit your specific marketing plan. JanorPots are designed to accept printing almost 360 degrees around the pot - in up to six color graphics. UPC bar codes are easily incorporated in the print design, as well as any cultural, grower, retail, or customer care information.

Printing directly on JanorPots reduces the need for stick tags or pressure sensitive adhesive labels — an excellent value. It also provides a tamper-proof container at retail.
